Dear ABP News anchors, you seem to have a serious comprehension problem. You folks have decided to tweet out this video in tandem which kinda proves that ABP News was wrong and @newslaundry was right to call YOU out for it. Allow me to explain. 1/n

On April 10, one ABP anchor said that #coronavirus infections would have crossed 8.20 lakh in India by 15 April if there was no lockdown here. They attributed this figure to ICMR. Amit Malviya shared it too. πŸ‘‡ 2/n

In its daily press briefing on April 10th, the health ministry confirmed there’s no such research done by ICMR. 3/n

We did a #MediaShot on this calling out your ABP news report and Malviya's tweet. Both. NL also contacted the office of ICMR director-general, Balram Bhargava, for a comment on the matter. They didn't get back to us. 4/n

On April 11, Lav Agrawal did a bizarre flip-flop where he pointed out (and confirmed) that ICMR had done no such study but this 8.2 lakh figure was based on an internal projection analysis. Again... No πŸ‘ ICMR πŸ‘ study πŸ‘! @scroll_in followed up too. 5/n

Other folks also pointed out how the data produced by the Health Ministry officials is NOT from ICMR, an entire institute dedicated to studying epidemiology. So... Health ministry made its own projection without consulting them? Eh? 6/n

Meanwhile, since we called out ABP News and your anchor for this lapse, you got upset. Because 3 whole days later, which is today, you are all tweeting about how @newslaundry spread misinformation. *slow clap* Again, you seem to have a basic comprehension problem ABP. Sad. 7/n

So dear ABP anchors, did you take the effort to check for the primary source (which still does not exist btw)? Keep sharing that video because it just demonstrates how you were wrong and also your ignorance becomes more obvious. Shouting from studios is not journalism. πŸ™„ 8/8

Leaving this here just in case Malivya boss decides to delete the tweet.

"Newslaundry Exposed" it seems. Yes. This trend is perfectly normal. As you can see, ABP News folks have learnt the elite technique of copy-paste from Malviya boss. Truly inspired. πŸ˜†πŸ˜…
