1/ I was talking with my therapist the other day about how it blows my mind that people who live under oppressive regimes in other parts of the world, can still find things to be happy about and carry on about their lives. How can life just go on?
2/ Therapist: what does that say to you about human beings? Me: That human beings are simultaneously awful and resilient. Therapist: It’s interesting that you can hold both those things simultaneously. Me: well, it’s true isn’t it?
3/ I am still trying to wrap my mind around this duality. How people can embody both of these things. Guess I’m thinking about what it might be like to live in a fascist regime, and whether life just goes on regardless of who is in control/power.
