Book reading is a good habit - but it is a very inefficient way of learning. The best way to learn is by visuals, then by hearing, then by touch or taste, then by reading. The material understood by 10 minutes of video is covered by at least 40-50 pages - which will take an hour.

The printing technology preceded audio systems, and the video was the last of technological development. Traditionally listening and watching was the way of learning. Don't make book reading an issue of ego, wherever possible, a good visual can improve learning speed.

Few years ago, people were ridiculed for poor handwriting. Today, everyone types. Who cares if you draw a chicken head or do calligraphy? Smarter were those who learnt efficient typing. Future is of those who can optimally use all modes of communication - visual, audio and text.
