Evidence of the Soul and the Afterlife. A Thread 🧵

We all heard about Near Death Experiences, where someone dies clinically and reports certain experiences. Are there experiences real or delusions?

Although NDEs differ alot, we can use the strongest cases of them to prove an afterlife and a soul exist. There are many NDEs that reported an Out of Body Experience, where the patient has vertical awareness of their body and the resuscitation team.

Patients that has an OBE report things that happened when their body was unconscious. For example, Pam Reynolds' brain had no activity, which makes it impossible for her to be concious of anything under a naturalistic view of the soul. However, she reported an accurate OBE.

Another example is Vicki Umipeg. She was blind from birth. However, she reported an accurate OBE while her brain was not functioning and had no activity. She was able to accurately describe the appearance of dead relatives. This is impossible on a Naturalistic view.

There multiple other examples of people that reported accurate OBEs that were physically impossible for them to know. This gives evidence that there must be some sort of spiritual explanation here.

For example, here is a study that admits blind patient that report OBEs accurately described what they can't physically see.

Now some may say these experiences are a result of hallucinations. However, this is impossible. Hallucinations don't occur in npn-activr brains. A non-active brain can't wield anything conscious. Plus, the reports described object facts, which don't happen with hallucinations.

Some may object and say that NDE are shaped by culture, such that a Hindu may report visions of Hindu Gods in the NDE. Now, these vision are other-worldly, so no one can verify them like OBEs. A hindu may lie about his NDE like how people lie about dreams.

Or, they may have seen an angel, jinn, or other spiritual beings and assumed they were hindu Gods. It is also important to mention that this is near death and not absolute death. Therefore, these visions are probably not what will happen at the real death.

NDEs don't prove a specific religion. What they do is prove some sort of an Afterlife exists. However, we can't know the details of this afterlife solely from NDEs. The only person that loses from this discussion is the materialist and not the spiritual.

Finally die to these evidences, the scientists researching these reports admit that it is very difficult for a person to offer a naturalistic explanation of these facts. Therefore, some scientists said that the option of a continual of conciousness after death is very probable.
