I'd like to introduce Long Covid Superinfection as a concept in part due to the preprint on persistent spike in the blood of Long Covid people at 12 months


@fitterhappierAJ The concept already exists, as does the fact that convalescent pts are experiencing rebound infections which are contagious to others. This means long covid patients could also be contagious as symptoms wax and wane.

@fitterhappierAJ I haven’t seen any studies in LC pts where the virus was cultured to see if it was capable of replicating, but if recurrence of symptoms at 2-3 months post acute phase are testing +, then LC recurrence would likely show the same.


@fitterhappierAJ SarsCoV2 has a retrotransposon, which technically could be read on a RAT as pos, but unless virus is cultured, we won’t know for certain.
