It took me 8 years to even begin to master the mindset of stoicism, I'll teach you how to in 8 tweets: (took me the longest to learn number 5)

1. You can't control some things. So focus on controlling the controllables. Have control come from within, not without. You need to be in control your life, if something happens you cant control, get rid of it. Can't get rid of it? Accept it and move on.

2. Time is your most vital asset. You can't get it back. Use it wisely. Guard it. Use money to buy other people's time and mistakes. For example, paying a mentor that is double your age will save you time on making the same mistakes they did. Learn how to get back your time.

3. Don't outsource your happiness The biggest lesson I learned is that happiness isnt a constant. You cannot reach "happiness" because its not a place. You actually create happiness for yourself. It comes from within you, and from the way you see the world. It comes FROM you.

4. Focus in the face of distractions You need to be able to have things come up to distract you, notice them, and still continue to do what you were doing. Letting distractions dictate your life is recipe for prolonging your dreams. Learn how to focus, and get into flow.

5. We have been taught that freedom is freedom to pursue our desires, but true freedom is the freedom FROM our desires. Detach from your ego and from worldly possessions. Learn to live with less. True wealth is what you can live without.

6. Journal When do we see the best view of something in a football game? Instant replay. Well wouldn't it be awesome to have that in everyday life? You do- it's called journaling. Get a glimpse back into your head from a moment in time in the past.

7. Plan for the worst but think about the best. Always plan for worst case scenario, then you are ready for everything. But then go into the situation with the idea that it will turn out perfect ad act as such. Never fails to have me prepared.

8. You are mortal Everyday you need to think about how eventually you will die. And that's great, death is what makes life worth living. Use this information and make the most of every moment. The present is the only time we have, enjoy it. (because we really don't know)
