Set yourself up for success. Debrief

Debrief is like your post-game locker room, strategic thinking time: where you review your “game footage”, consider how things went, and look at what you can learn from it.

Its very important to take some time out and write down what ever happened after your most important tasks of the day, specially related to your goals- whether an office meeting or client call or a workout.

Debrief is a time for “big thinking” about the approach you'll take going forward. This is intentional time where you have space to reflect, envision the future, and set a strategy forward.

Debrief makes your next prepare step faster and easier. If you leave yourself good honest notes now, you'll be able to pick up right where you left off next time, without missing or forgetting things.

Take notes on key topics and themes.Pause and reflect. What are some of the bigger picture concepts and themes emerging? Did the workout make you energetic or stressed? What could have been better in the client meeting?

Make sure to capture: • What went well? • What do you want to do more of? And finally, thinking ahead to the future, is the direction that you're headed still clear and on track to your goals?

And, most importantly, rate yourself as how you did in the client meeting or the training session? And what can you do differently next time to make just small, incremental improvements in your journey towards your goal?

Effectively debriefing will lead to: more learning from experience more clarity and insight less repetitive conversations and meetings less time feeling “stalled” or “stuck” more progress better utilisation of time

If debriefing has not been part of your daily calendar, make it for the coming year. Set yourself up for success.
