Not the ones who are enterprising, innovative or the creative types. Not even the writer types coz they write well. Then who is he? 2/n
Just read some film reviews and you will find these are mostly those young kids whose friends are settled and this guy doesn't even know 3/n
So he ends up doing what he does all the times. Watching world cinema and foreign TV shows. He thinks he knows cinema.That's the problem 4/n
Publications need cheap labour. So they hire this 'going nowhere' frustrated filmmaker. This guy thinks he deserves what others get. 5/n
So he starts judging makers instead of films. He sets standards of world cinema for Bollywood and thrashes, ridicules, insults makers. 6/n
A drunk person has to puke to cleanse his system. This guy pukes to feel at par with the maker. Not realising that revenge ain't review. 7/n
Indian film critics are far from reality, no real knowledge of cinema, business and are frustrated, corrupt, judgemental and irrelevant.
Just to give an example a leading trade/film critic reviewed my first film chocolate which was lifted from Usual Suspects. He wrote about it
Later I found out that he had lifted the entire review of Usual Suspects and passed it as review of Chocolate. Such is their level.
Since Hate Story a change took place. I started getting calls for money for a good review. Today almost all of them are corrupt.
